In our social media marketing class at UCR, it was on group no. 4 to analyze Facebook from different perspectives.
First of all, we figured out the three ways to do marketing on Facebook: Pages, Groups and Ads. Out of these three, we thought that pages are the most effective, since a company can display various information and - for example - offer different incentives to potential customers. In contrast, ads and groups are often not even found by potential customers in our opinion.
Secondly, we analyzed the landing pages of different companies. Landing pages are the first page you land on after clicking on a link. Of the companies´ landing pages analyzed, we thought that Vitaminwater has the best one, since it is very well-arranged, makes a good use of colours and includes different types of media, such as pictures and videos. In contrast, we did not like Vizio´s landing page much. It is an electronics company, but based on the landing page - which just displays a picture of some men standing around - it could also be assumed that it is a rock band or clothing company. The landing page for that reason is not well-connected to the brand.
Finally, we figured out the different kind of posts a company can put on its wall in order to make it interesting for its customers. These posts include among other: Pictures, videos, links, advertistments, important dates and time, company information, incentives such as coupons, surveys, updates etc. The possibilities are very broad.
Group no. 4 hopes that we could bring across the findings well in class.
Yours,
Matthias

ROIAL Social Media
As discussed before, social media is important for companies - very important!
As a social media manager, it is important to know, what is achieved with social media. The most important figure is ROI, Return on Investment = (final value - starting value)/starting value.
Now, I am going to present three tools which help to measure ROI:
1) Baselines: Powerful tool, for example to display changes through the use of social media.
+ Very easy to understand + Development over time + Flexible, can be used for different variables/contexts - Often relative rather than absolute numbers
2) Activity timeslines, which list different activities connected to social media on a timeline.
+ As the name says, activities can be followed over time + development and updates can be tracked - not quantified - needs other tools to see, if activities lead to results
3) Sales revenue chart: Displays sales revenues on a timeline, for example per month or per day. Can be linked to social media activities.
+ Sales revenues really matter to the upper management + Easy to understand + Development over time - Needs other tools to be linked to social media efforts.
There are more tools which can and should be used to measure the ROI of social media. Then, the measures are combined in order to create a "big picture" of social media ROI which covers various aspects.
Tools which can be used in order to do the whole analysis or to support the ROI analysis are, for example:
- Google Analytics - Omniture -TweetMeme Analytics -PostRank Analytics -HootSuite.

Matthias

Social media, social media, social media, why is just so important for the marketing strategy of organizations?
There are several big reasons for it:
There are several big reasons for it:
First of all, companies who do not include social media in their marketing strategy quickly appear to potential customers as being old-fashioned or, obsolete.
Secondly, with the help of social media, you can reach enormous amounts of people, since more and more people are making use of social media.
Finally, being present on social media platforms keeps helping the companies being on track regarding customers´ desires: Through these platforms, a business-to-customer, B2C, exchange of information happens, which the companies can use to their advantage.
Clearly, the advantages of using social media are almost endless.
Now, if companies brand themselves via social media, how can indivuduals do that professionally, too?
Clearly, the advantages of using social media are almost endless.
Now, if companies brand themselves via social media, how can indivuduals do that professionally, too?
It is very easy: Repetitive slogans, pictures, symbols, opinions on different platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, LinkedIn etc.. With the help of such more or less subtle repetitions, everybody can memorize oneself a lot more. Basically, you want to tell a consistent story of yourself, a story you want your future employers and business partners to know.
With this consistent story, individuals can make a significant step in appearing much more professional and trustworthy, which can make a big difference regarding ones present and future. For example, it can be a deciding factor in the context of recruitment.
Social media, social media, social media.
IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT IMPORTANT!
